WBBL | Twitter laughs as Lauren Smith glitches in real time after taking literal blinder in Hobart

Sports and eccentric celebrations is a marriage more consummate than Adam and Eve's, with each year producing a million new iterations. Tuesday in Hobart was no different as Lauren Smith got blinded by the lights and startled the life out of herself as she held onto what looked like a sitter.

Lauren Smith was at her entertaining best during the WBBL encounter between Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers at Bellerive oval on Tuesday

Adelaide Strikers' star studded batting lineup got caught up in the swift winds of the in-form Hobart Hurricanes at the Bellerive Oval in their Women's Big Bash League encounter on Tuesday as a collapse saw none of their top seven batters surpass the 25-run mark. Wicket-keeper batter Bridget Patterson was the only one who walked with some dignity as she struck a 22-ball 24 in an attempt to stabilize proceedings after walking in at 33/3 in the eighth over. The 31-year-old was blessed by Lady Luck early when Lizelle Lee goofed up a run-out while Patterson was more than halfway down the pitch, and the veteran nearly got lucky a second time but was eventually trumped by Lauren Smith.

On the second ball of the 15th over, Heather Graham ran in from over the wicket and delivered at near-yorker length straight at the stumps. Patterson, stood deep in her crease, created some room for herself and managed to get her bat under the ball but not nearly enough for it. The Kookaburra sailed timidly into the night sky, with Smith settling under it at extra cover and eventually pounced at it with an absurd hop that nearly complicated the sitter. However, it was just the start of the entertainment as Smith followed up her antics by standing dead still on the spot, her eyes popped wide open with the face a thousand different shades of perplexity.

Smith finally broke character when her teammates ran in to celebrate as she pointed at the lights to explain she had completely lost track of the ball for a minute, and Twitterati as always was thoroughly amused.
